Description

Details
Jack is a typical Rainbow Lorikeet! He is extremely messy and can tend to be noisy. Lorikeets are nectar eaters, so potential adopters must realize the addage: "Liquid in = Liquid out." His cage and papers will need much more rigorous cleaning than most typical parrot species. He has a tendency to be friendly, but Jack decides who he wants to be friendly with. He can bite hard -- even with the people he loves. But he can also be quite loving. Jack has a fascination with mouths, so if he's on your shoulder, be prepared for him to lunge and do everything he can to try and get inside yours. When on the shoulder he will tend to try and talk over anyone you speak to -- this can be annoying, but is also hysterically funny. He doesn't have good manners! He says many words and makes a lot of noises.. but he can also scream very piercingly when shoulder surfing -- this is NOT good on the ears!

All in all, the person who adopts Jack should have some experience with Lorikeets and MUST be ready to handle the mess he creates. Jack can really be a handful, but he's a great bird!

I have never read a funnier description - whoever the writer is - YOU ARE HISTERICAL. I hope you find a home for him.

  • Thanks. The observations were all mine. He's a great bird -- has been here a long time, but being the caretaker for a Lorikeet takes a very special person, not every parrot lover can handle it. Most birds are very messy, but few can "shit for distance," like our Jack!
