It's finally starting to look like there may be an end to this crazy pandemic ahead. Let's all be thankful for that!

We continue to be WAY behind in handling adoption applications. As of this writing in May, we are still working through applications from March. In order to help the Foster Parrots Sanctuary after their tragic fire in April, we will continue to handle their intake as well as our own for the foreseeable future. The additional work has left us extremely busy and, therefore, we expect to remain significantly behind on our processing of adoption applications for at least the next couple of months.

As stated previously, the pre-adoption virtual interviews will be a permanent. This also has resulted in processing delays, but is an absolutely beneficial part of the adoption process.

We will continue to try to abide by CDC recommendations insofar as COVID is concerned. We are no longer REQUIRING masks for people entering the shelter. We're leaving the mask decision up to the visitor. If anyone feels the need for NEAR staff to wear masks during a visit, we will absolutely oblige.

As always, our focus is singular and strict: to provide the best possible future for our birds. The birds and their individual futures come first, always. We reserve the right to deny any application, at any time, for any reason at any point in the adoption process.

**** REMINDER **** We are open by appointment only.
