In order to adopt a parrot or exotic bird from Northeast Avian Rescue, you must first fill out an adoption application.

No adoptions will be considered without having an adoption application on file. Once we have the completed application we will contact you to set up an appointment to meet the birds.

NOTE: Please ensure your email client is set up to accept emails from adopt@rescueparrots.org as that will be the address you'll see when corresponding with NEAR.

Personal Information

First, we need to collect a little bit of information so that a NEAR representative can contact you:

Depending on the type of bird you're interested in, there are varying levels of experience required. In order to ensure the best possible outcome for all of our adoptions, NEAR reserves the right to refuse any adoption for any reason.

Our goal is to match families with our wonderful birds -- we want to find reasons to complete adoptions, not refuse them! We will do everything possible to make the right match, but remember at the end of the day it's often the bird that picks the person, not the other way around!

Please provide as much detail as possible on the open-ended questions listed below:

What kind of bird(s) are you looking for?
Please give us an idea of the types of birds you're interested in. Specific breeds or types of birds can be helpful. If you don't know for sure, list a few that you think you'd like to meet. NEAR generally has birds of all shapes and sizes, from finches to macaws!

Please read the following acknowledgements carefully.  Each one is required.  If you have questions, email us at webmaster@rescueparrots.org
